Maternal and Infant Project in Bangladesh
Fundación Legis has committed to supporting a maternal and infant protection project in one of the most remote rural areas of Bangladesh, a country with one of the highest poverty rates in the world.
In collaboration with Compassion, the project aims to ensure a safe environment for pregnant women and newborn babies throughout the year 2026. The main objective is to prevent the death of mothers or newborns due to lack of medical care, inadequate nutrition or poor hygiene conditions.
Project Goals
- Provide essential medical and nutritional care to pregnant women and newborns.
- Ensure clean and safe childbirth conditions with qualified healthcare personnel.
- Distribute hygiene kits, vitamins and appropriate baby supplies.
- Offer educational programs on maternal health, breastfeeding and newborn care.
- Create long-term awareness to reduce infant and maternal mortality.
Impact and Sustainability
The initiative seeks not only to address urgent health needs but also to lay the groundwork for sustainable community development. By empowering women and families through education and health, the project contributes to breaking the cycle of poverty and building a safer future for children.
Fundación Legis hopes to extend this maternal-child model to other countries, reaching as many women and babies as possible, ensuring that every mother has the right to give birth and raise her child in the best possible conditions.
